YES|Bee Aware-How to Make a Mud Bee Hive
Do you know how to make a mud bee hive?
It’s pretty easy. Let’s make a home for mud bees!
These are what you need:
- A bamboo tube with 2 holes;
- A 60 cm of hemp rope;
- 1 kg (2 packages) of clay;
- A thin rod.
1. Thread the ends of the hemp rope into the two holes of the bamboo tube and tie the knots.
2. Put the clay into the bamboo tube and gently press it so that fits snugly against the wall of the tube.
3. Estimate the remaining space, put in the second piece of clay and press, and fill the bamboo tube until it’s 90% full.
4. Gently poke out the distribution of the mud holes with a thin rod, then poke vertically down according to the traces.
After poking to the end, please be sure to rotate the thin rod out slowly, trying not to bring out the clay.
5. Finally, remember to refine it and make it natural!Where to put the mud bee hive?
Place the bee hive under a tree to shelter bees from the sun and rain, facing south or southeast, at least 1 meter above the ground, and the entrance cannot be obscured by plants.
You can observe whether there are insects staying in use at a certain frequency.
