    Crying Ocean

In recent years, China has released many regulations focusing on marine protection, expressing its determination to protect the blue sky. Shanghai Roots & Shoots actively explores and joins hands with all walks of society to protect the ocean with actions, calling on the public to focus on "the crying ocean". Through collecting 'voice of ocean' themed paintings and recitation works by the young students, organizing corporate beach cleaning activities, setting up marine protection workshops, and organizing Roots & Shoots groups to make "Crying Ocean" sculptures, etc., Shanghai Roots & Shoots urges the public to understand, care for and protect the ocean.

    Wu Tong Shu

Since the founding of Shanghai Roots & Shoots, we have always been concerned about environmental education, because in the poverty-stricken areas of China environmental protection is a concept that is yet to be spread around. We have sent project coordinators regularly to the project site to conduct research and promote understanding and communication between kids of different areas. From 2003 to 2012, R&S sent volunteers to the project site for two weeks every summer to offer donations, tuition fees, study tutoring and so on.

    Home of Hope

Home of Hope (patient care program) was established in August 2008, working under Shanghai Roots & Shoot, working for the patients in Shanghai and surrounding areas as a communication platform. We organize a variety of events, providing the patients with the opportunities of meeting and getting to know others who are in the similar situation. There would be expert lectures, outdoor excursions, sporting activities etc, which will always be worth coming. Gathering together, the patients can encourage and help each other. The experiences of each individual is always the best lesson for others, and so are the others' experiences.
