On May 18, a delegation led by Xu Jianhua, Deputy Secretary of the Huangpu District Party Committee, and Wang Yan, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Chairperson of the District Women's Federation, visited the Shanghai Roots & Shoots Youth Activity Center to conduct on-site supervision and research on the protection of female employees' rights and interests and related work.
The Shanghai Roots & Shoots Youth Activity Center has a high proportion of female employees, who constitute the backbone of the organization's operations and development. The Center has consistently adhered to a people-oriented employment philosophy and has solidly advanced the safeguarding of women's lawful rights and interests. It has routinely implemented a range of supportive measures, including annual health check-ups for female employees, flexible leave arrangements, and subsidies for vocational skills training. It has continuously improved facilities for a birth-friendly workplace, strengthened fair, transparent, and accessible career development and promotion mechanisms for women, and effectively balanced female employees' career advancement with their family care responsibilities, thereby building a robust protective barrier for their labor rights and interests.
During the research symposium, Xu Jianhua and Wang Yan engaged in in-depth, face-to-face exchanges with the organization's management and frontline female employee representatives, attentively listening to the practical difficulties and genuine concerns faced by female employees in their work and daily lives. They fully affirmed the efforts of the Shanghai Roots & Shoots Youth Activity Center in conscientiously implementing laws, regulations, and policies on the special protection of female employees' rights, and in striving to foster a friendly workplace environment that respects, cares for, and empowers women.
Li Yujing, Executive Director of Shanghai Roots & Shoots, sincerely expressed that this on-site visit by the district leaders and the Women's Federation made all female employees truly feel the importance and care that the Party Committee, the Government, and the Women's Federation attach to working women. The Women's Federation has long provided the Center with professional guidance and resource support in areas such as women's rights protection, women's care initiatives, and birth-friendly workplace development, offering clear direction for optimizing our female employee support system. As the next step, the Center will take this research visit as an opportunity to further deepen all aspects of women's rights protection work, carefully consider and incorporate the suggestions and demands raised by female employees during the symposium, further enrich supportive services, improve birth-friendly facilities, broaden channels for women's career growth and promotion, and diligently safeguard the occupational well-being of every female employee. We will continue to unleash the strength of women ("her power") and give full play to the advantages of our female core staff in the fields of public welfare environmental protection and youth education, proactively cooperate with the Women's Federation in various women's service practices, and contribute our institutional strength to the high-quality development of women's affairs in Huangpu District.
